Website design and election posters: the KYCC July meeting

I’m writing this from a train just after our monthly KYCC meeting has ended, and there’s plenty to talk about so let’s jump on in.

In the Feeling Safe session, concerns were raised about the council’s ‘Report a Fault’ page. People cited concerns about experience, friction, and accessibility, pinning the issues on a budget construction and a dated design. The group moved to get in touch with the company in charge of said site and a meeting is being organised.

Moving on from that, the topic of bullying was addressed. We discussed poster designs to promote our anti-bullying message in schools. Reading through Project Salus statistics, designs were agreed and the cost was confronted.

In our UKYP project group, we talked about the melancholic subject of child poverty. Discussions were had about the flaws with the Kent test, and what we could do to support children who were going hungry. We agreed to contact local supermarkets to see where their waste food goes and if we can divert it to needy families.

After a joint meeting on disability awareness, in our choice session we discussed the upcoming KYCC elections. The slogan “IT’S TIME” was adopted, and elements of previous years were added.

And that’s it! I’ve finished writing this the day after the meeting, so sorry for the delay, but thanks for reading and I’ll see you soon!
