On Friday, young people from all around the UK will be setting off to Hull, as part of the UKYP annual conference. But, unless you’re actually going, it’s likely that you don’t know what’s actually going to occur there. So, to remedy this, consider this your guide to this weekend’s conference.
Friday
Skipping over the bureaucracy that we have to do and the opening ceremony, we jump in with regional sessions discussing two things: our youth voice journey so far and the upcoming parts of the conference. This allows us to feedback to each other on our UKYP work, learn from our colleagues, and ensure that we are representing you in the best way. It also means that we are ready for the upcoming events over the weekend so we can deliver what you want over the weekend.
Saturday
The morning starts off with feedback from our focus groups, comparing our local results against the national report and allowing us to ensure your voice has been heard by youth parliament.
Then comes ‘the Big Vote’. This is where every MYP comes together to vote on the policy motions we submitted last month. The results of the debate and vote will form the new UKYP manifesto.
Are you a young person in Kent? Do you want me to vote specific ways on specific issues? DM me on Twitter or use the contact form at the bottom of the homepage of this website to contact me.
And that’s all the important bits! Apart from some bureaucratic things, ceremonies, and chill/fun time, that catches you up on the weekend ahead. I’ll be live tweeting the event on my Twitter and if constant updates aren’t your style, get an evening briefing on your inbox on Friday & Saturday by subscribing to my blog (you can find the button under the feed!)
